Introduction
The Bach (Beach House in northern NZ) has been recently fully rebuilt with
the intention of exclusive holiday accommodation.
It is situated on
the waterfront at beautiful Kowharewa Bay (pronounced cor-fah- reh-wa) on the Tutukaka
(pronounced tu-tu-cah-cah) Coast. From the Bach you can see the Poor Knights Islands and
are just minutes from launching spots for scuba diving at the Poor Knights as well as some
of the best salt water fishing in New Zealand.
For those who wish
to explore on dry land, the many magnificent world class beaches offer a variety of
options from surf beaches to quiet secluded bays lined with Pohutakawa trees and golden
sands to relax on. There are locations close to Tutukaka that offer day trekking and
sightseeing as well as craft shops and places to dine.
Tutukaka Harbor is the main
launching place for all game fishing, sport fishing and scuba diving experiences in the
surrounding waters. These waters have established a worldwide reputation and offers water
sports at there best as well as a location to relax. You have many choices including
swimming, saltwater sport fishing, deep sea fishing, tramping, scuba diving the two sunken
naval boats, the Tui and the Waikato or at the world renowned Poor Knight islands.
The Poor Knights Islands has been classed as one of the top ten dive
locations in the world, (number 7) and it is one of the oldest Marine Reserves in
New Zealand. There is greater diversity to be seen diving here underwater than any other
in New Zealand's coastline. A nature reserve above the waterline and a marine reserve
below, the protected status of the islands allows the natural inhabitants to flourish. The
Poor Knights populations of marine species continue to increase, providing a tempting food
source for the big free-ranging species like marlin, tuna and kingfish.
