Activities
Start off the day strolling 30 metres to the water and a quick dip or if feeling more energetic swim across the bay and back before breakfast on the terrace as you watch the gannets feeding at your doorstep.
Take a walk around the rocks or beach and either throw the line or net out to catch some fish for tea. There are also easy to paddle kayaks, fishing rods, snorkeling gear and mountain bikes to explore Kowharewa Bay and its environs.
Fishing
These waters are teeming with fish
and at nearby Tutukaka there are fishing and deep sea fishing charters that
are readily available. These can be prebooked.

Diving
The diving in these waters is exceptional, there is the twin dive wrecks just to the north and south of Kowharewa Bay, these are the sunken naval boats Tui and Waikato, the latter complete with helicopter hanger and guns. The Poor knight Islands are rated by Jaques Causteau as one of the top 10 dive spots in the world. There is a dive shop and charters available at Tutukaka. The coastal diving is excellent and there is a large crayfish pot at The Bach.
